From Rep. Scott Hochberg: HISD is doing its dropout recovery walk on Aug. 26 that starts at 8AM. They are looking for volunteers and groups of volunteers to go to the homes of dropouts to find out why they have dropped out and encourage them to come back. I've done this walk before and it can really show the conditions these kids face. I was wondering if the club might want to volunteer as a group at Sharpstown HS. It would be great PR for Democrats and a worthwhile community activity. There is a "required" training either Wed, Aug at 9 am or Aug. 16th at 6 pm at HISD Admin Building, 4400 W 18th. (near W Loop at 290) -- although I'd bet that the prinicpal would be happy to have you one way or another.
